German chamomile 'Zloty Lan' is a tetraploid variety from Poland, bred for high yields and high essential oil content. It has extra-large flowers that bloom from mid summer to fall. It makes a nice filler in beds and borders. The flowers are used for medicinal teas.

Zloty Lan chamomile is excellent in  cut flower  arrangements. In the garden, it attracts  butterflies  and  beneficial insects . It can also be grown in  containers . I can't think of any other plant with so many practical uses.

When making chamomile tea, steep it for just a few minutes if you want a relaxing tea. Steeping for longer brings out compounds that make it more stimulating for some people. It also contains anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer compounds.

German chamomile is native to Europe, Africa and Asia.  Easy to grow. Drought tolerant. Deer resistant. Also known as Matricaria chamomilla.
