Liatris punctata is a perennial wildflower from the great plains of the Midwest. It is shorter than most other liatris species. The spikes of purple flowers bloom in late summer. It's wonderful for attracting Monarch butterflies .
Thanks to its deep taproot, Liatris punctata is very drought tolerant . It grows well in alkaline soil, preferring sandy soil and full sun. Hardy in zones 3-9.
