Malva sylvestris ssp. mauritanica is a short-lived perennial with tall stems of deep purple flowers with darker veins. It blooms from June to September, looking great with roses and the many perennials and annuals that bloom at this time.

Malva 'Maritanica' is taller than  Malva 'Zebrina' , and the flowers are slightly larger. The vibrant flowers have a glossy sheen. The plant has an informal look reminiscent of a hollyhock. It works best at the back of the border with other tall plants like  sunflower  and  Nicotiana sylvestris

Mauirtian Mallow attracts  butterflies  and  hummingbirds , and it makes a good  cut flower . Also known as Malva sylvestris var. mauritiana, Malva 'Bibor Felho', and Malva 'Purple Cloud'. Hardy in zones 5-8.
