Verbena bonariensis 'Lollipop' is a new selection with rosy-purple flowers that are a little lighter than the species. It is advertised as being more compact, but it's still very tall - unless you pinch it back to encourage branching.
Verbena 'Lollipop' begins blooming in midsummer, and it continues into early fall. It attracts bees , butterflies and hummingbirds . Shown here with Pumila zinnias .
Verbena bonariensis is a f irst-year-flowering perennial . It is hardy in zones 7-10, but it often overwinters in my zone 5 garden. Grow it as a self-sowing annual in colder regions. Drought tolerant and deer resistant .
