Gilia tricolor is a California wildflower that blooms in summer. The small plants have ferny foliage and pale lilac flowers with contrasting dark eyes. The tiny, trumpet-shaped flowers have a sweet chocolate  fragrance .

Gilia tricolor is nice at the front of the border or along the edge of a path where the flowers can be seen up close.  It makes a good filler in  containers , and it attracts  hummingbirds .

Gilia tricolor is  drought-tolerant  and easy to grow. It prefers full sun and well-drained soil. It self sows on bare soil. Also known as Bird's Eyes.
