Penstemon clutei blooms in midsummer with showy pink flowers that attract  hummingbirds . It's a beautiful plant for xeriscaping.

Penstemon clutei is a rare species native to the Sunset Crater area near Flagstaff, Arizona. It requires well-drained soil in full sun. Hardy in zones 4-8. Give the seeds 8 weeks  cold-moist stratification .

Sow penstemon seeds outdoors in pots in late fall or winter. Or start indoors, then refrigerate the pots for 8 weeks. Barely cover the seeds with soil. Full sun.
