Penstemon humilis is native to the Western United States. The purple to blue, tubular flowers appear on compact plants that grow less than 2 feet tall.

Penstemon humilis can be grown in full sun or light shade. It's nice in the  rock garden . It tolerates drought and poor soil. Also known as Low Beardtongue. Hardy perennial in zones 5-9.

Sowing Penstemon humilis Seeds

Sow penstemon seeds outdoors in pots in late fall or winter. Or start indoors, then refrigerate the pots for 8 weeks. Barely cover the seeds with soil. Full sun.
