Verbena bonariensis 'Lollipop' is a new selection with rosy-purple flowers that are a little lighter than the species. It is advertised as being more compact, but I haven't found that to necessarily be the case, unless it is pinched back at 4" tall to encourage branching.
Verbena 'Lollipop' begins blooming in midsummer. It attracts bees , butterflies and hummingbirds .
Verbena bonariensis is a f irst-year-flowering perennial . It is hardy in zones 7-10, but it often overwinters in my zone 5 garden. Grow it as a self-sowing annual in colder regions. Drought tolerant and deer resistant .

Sowing Verbena bonariensis 'Lollipop' Seeds
Start verbena seeds indoors in late winter. Sow on the surface, then refrigerate for 5 weeks. Full sun to part shade. Slow to germinate.
