Sow outdoors after the last frost date, 1/2" deep. Or start indoors 3 weeks early. Space 2' apart in rows. Or grow 3 plants per hill. Space hills 4-6' apart. Full sun.

Boston Pickling  is a fantastic dual-purpose cucumber - great for both pickling and fresh eating. It is rarely bitter, even in hot weather. The steady production kept us supplied with cucumbers through the summer and into fall.

Lemon cucumber  is a popular heirloom. Pick the 4" fruits when they are pale greenish-yellow for best flavor. The long, vigorous vines are very productive. This cucumber is best for fresh eating (too soft for pickling). Non-bitter.

Dragon Egg cucumber  is aptly named with pearly-white, egg-shaped fruits that are fantastic for slicing. The mild flavor rarely has any bitterness. Like the lemon cucumber, it is too soft for pickling. Enjoy it fresh.

Poona Keera cucumber  is a rare variety with light green fruits that mature to brown with a crackling skin. Of course, you want to eat them at the light green stage when they are young and tender. Usually mild flavor, sometimes bitter.
